Dr. Lisa R. Ramírez is currently assigned to the United States Department of Education in the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education as the national director of the Office of Migrant Education in Washington, D.C. Dr. Ramírez is also a private speaker, consultant, and educator. Her primary focus in her private business is to promote educational leadership and the building of strong individuals and families through the convergence of different avenues that include family values and beliefs, cultural competency, education, resiliency, spirituality and service to others. She has had the privilege and the pleasure of seeing how education can truly help break the cycle of poverty by serving as a student, classroom teacher, assistant principal and principal in West Texas. Her experiences include working with high-risk populations that include minority, EL, economically disadvantaged, special education and migrant students. Dr. Ramírez received her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Texas Tech University and her certifications include English, Spanish, English as a Second Language, Mid-Management and Superintendent. She is also an alumnus of the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Her presentations have been made nationwide to a variety of audiences that include: universities, school board associations, teacher organizations, school districts, school campuses, youth groups, parent groups, leadership summits, service organizations, cultural competency workgroups, church and community organizations, at-risk retreats and research associations.
